Geneie Everett, PhD, RN, is the Founder and Director of Trauma First Aide Associates in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Dr. Everett has 35 years experience as an Integrative Practitioner incorporating multiple Body/Mind techniques from western medicine and native cultures weaving her background in critical care nursing with cross-cultural healing, energy medicine, altered consciousness, imagery, biofeedback, shamanism, mind/body counseling, massage, breath work, spiritual healing, ritual and ceremony, Transpersonal Psychology and Somatic Psychology. In addition to her integrative healing practice, she served as a member of the Subcommittee on Integrative Practice to the N.M. Board of Nursing, worked in a full integrative medical practice in Santa Monica, CA and sponsored the “Hundred Medicines©: Honoring Many Paths” conferences on integrative practice. Dr. Everett holds a PhD is Science of Intuition and Energy Medicine and a PhD in Energy Medicine. She has been on faculty at EMU since 2006.
During 2005-2006, Dr. Everett served as the Director of the Foundation for Human Enrichment’s Trauma Outreach program (TOP) where she led a team to Thailand to assist tsunami survivors and deployed multiple outreach teams to Louisiana in response to hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Currently, she offers classes in Trauma First Aide™ across the United States. Trauma First Aide is a short term stabilization model developed by Dr. Everett and colleagues to treat symptoms of acute traumatic stress in urgent situations. Trauma First Aide (TFA) bridges physiology and psychology and is useful for complex trauma, first response, disaster settings, and as a self-care model. The focus of TFA is on trauma education, early intervention, and prevention of trauma. When working with trauma, Dr. Everett’s commitment is to reduce the long term consequences of trauma and to “prevent more and treat less”.
